About me

About me

I was born in Italy and raised in Brazil, in the paradisiac Island of Santa Catarina. Son of two worlds, I follow two paths at the same time: science and literature.

In science, I obtained a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Florianopolis, SC, Brazil), and a master’s degree in plant physiology at the Federal University of Pelotas (Pelotas, RS, Brazil). I'm currently doing my PhD at the University of Reading (Reading, UK).

I study the cognitive capacities of organisms without neurons, particularly plants, fungi, and their symbioses, to understand how they perceive, interact, and survive in the environment.

Besides, I dedicate myself to literature. After all, science and fantasy are almost the same, aren’t they? From the time being, I have published a book of short stories which addresses the folklore of Southern Brazil: Fifteen Hexes.

And what else comes ahead...?

Quinze Embruxos

Quinze Embruxos is a necessary book. A celebration of the stories that justify the name ‘Island of Magic’. […] To the native, it is a nostalgic dive into the heritage left by our ancestors, a nostalgia that hits the chest of who wanders in the city looking for the vestiges of the time of witches, of fulgent snakes of fire. […] To the many foreigners and Brazilians captivated by Florianopolis, it is an alert to cherish all this culture that justifies the enchantment they feel.”
